MTC-317 C-1 K20/K30 PVD AlTiN Black Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
This combination of substrate and advanced coating allows for a wide range of applications on both cast iron and heat treated alloy steels.
Used at lower SFPM than the MTC-327, but can sustain heavier chip loads and heavier interruptions.
MTC-317A2 C-1 K20/K30 PVD AlTiN Black Honed
.002 / .004
The added hone gives this grade and coating excellent resistance to chipping while under heavy chip loads.
This grade and coating is excellent for use on the “Mag-Na-Shear” MS45L as well as a wide range of roughing applications on cast iron and stainless steel.
MTC-20 C-2 K30/K20 None Up Sharp
Excellent for all types of soft aluminum, plastics, wood and other soft, non-ferrous materials.
A hard, fine grained carbide, with excel- lent abrasion resistance.
MTC-21 C-2 K30/K20 None Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
General purpose carbide for machining aluminum, light cast iron and other nonferrous materials.
The edge prep gives the tool added cutting edge strength. Excellent for light to moderate chip loads.
MTC-21A2 C-2 K30/K20 None Honed
.002 / .004
Excellent for rough cast iron castings. Not recommended for soft aluminum and other soft, non-metal materials.
Can be used on aluminum sand castings. Available in Super Shear (SS) and Power Shear (PS) geometries.

MTC-24 C-2 M10/M40 PVD Tin Gold Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
Works well on extended cuts milling cast iron and other nonferrous metals and nonmetal materials. Useful in cast aluminum milling as well.
PVDTiN helps to decrease cutting edge buildup.
MTC-24A2 C-2 M10/M40 PVD Tin Gold Honed
.002 / .004
Honed cutting edge under the PVDTiN coating allows moderate to heavy feeds & speeds on cast iron and other non- ferrous metals.
Can also be helpful when milling some heat treated P.H. Stainless Steels.
MTC-327 C-2/C-3 M40/P50 PVD AlTiN Black Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
This advanced coating allows elevated speeds for tough machining applications and extended tool life.
This grade works well on heat treated alloy steels. Excellent abrasion resistance.
MTC-327A2 C-2/C-3 M40/P50 PVD AlTiN Black Honed
.002 / .004
The added hone prevents chipping of this hard, heat resistant coating.
For optimum tool life in cast iron and heat treated die steels. Also using PS45L on Titanium and Inconel #718.
MTC-50 C-5 P50 None Up Sharp
A very tough, shock resistant grade for cutting all types of steel and continuous chip materials.
Up sharp using Super Shear (SS) geometry for very soft steels and thin parts. Works well on die cast aluminum.
MTC-51 C-5 P50/P30 None Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
A good all around tool for all types of steels and continuous chip materials under 28 RC.
Same as MTC-50 above except edge prep allows for light to moderate chip loads. Excellent on soft stainless steel & aluminum.
MTC-51A2 C-5 P50/P25 None Honed
.002 / .004
Honed edge on this grade allows for heavier chip loads on steel.
Works well on heat treated die blocks with a hardness of 48 to 52 RC using NP45L or NP312.

MTC-54 C-5/C-6 P50/P20 PVD Tin Gold Edge Prep
.0003 / .001
Excellent for soft, continuous chip type materials.
Achieve very good results using Power Shear (PS) and Super Shear (SS) geometries on soft stainless steels.
MTC-54A2 C-5/C-6 P50/P15 PVD Tin Gold Honed
.002 / .004
Honed cutting edge allows for moderate to heavy chip loads on soft to medium hard steels (up to 46 RC). Very good results on cast steel and cast stainless steel.
Using the NP45L with this type cutting edge and coating gives superior results on cast stainless steel and heat treated stainless steels.
